The Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is the first and most ancient monastery on the territory of modern Ukraine.

The monastery was founded in the middle of the 11th century by the Monks Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves. Now in the caves of the monastery there are imperishable relics of more than 120 saints. Some of the saints of God are known to the whole world: the Monk Nestor the Chronicler, the Monk Ilya of Muromets (his feats of arms are described in epics, but this is not a fictional fairy-tale character, but a real warrior-hero who later took monastic tonsure), the Monk Agapit of Pechersk, a disinterested physician ... Through prayers to all the monastic fathers of the Kiev Caves, miracles and healings have been happening for thousands of years.

Within the walls of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, the Kiev Theological Seminary was revived in 1989, and since 1992 - the Kiev Theological Academy, the building of which was previously located in one of the districts of the capital - Podil, where the most famous secular university is currently operating - Kiev Mohyla Academy ...
