The history of the National scientific center ”Institute of Metrology” began with the opening in Kharkiv in 1901 the first in Ukraine Calibration tent for inspection and branding of trading measures and weights. Without Metrology today it is impossible to conduct scientific research, which, in turn, form the basis for the development of Metrology itself. Only the best modern measurement devices give the possibility of new discoveries, and only really developed Metrology may continue to be partners in science, industry and trade. National scientific centre ”Institute of Metrology” conducts scientific fundamental and applied research in the field of Metrology and carries out scientific and research works associated with the creation, improvement, storing, using primary and secondary standards, creating systems for transmitting size of measurement units, development of normative documents on Metrology, the formation of state programs on Metrology and the concept of development of the state metrological system, and also carries out state metrological control and scientific and methodical ensuring of the metrological activity in Ukraine.
